Russian army achieves limited gains in Kupyansk — Ukrainian General Staff
Russian invaders achieved partial success near Ivanivka in the Kupyansk sector amid ten combat engagements that took place in the area in a day, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Facebook on May 24.
Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled an attack in the direction of Druzhelyubivka.
Fighting continues in Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Stelmakhivka, Nevske, and Druzhelyubivka, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are taking measures to stabilize the situation.
Over the past day, Russian troops lost 353 personnel (117 killed) and 81 pieces of military equipment in the Kupyansk sector. Specifically, a tank, two armored combat vehicles, two cars, and 68 UAVs were destroyed. Additionally, a tank, two armored personnel carriers, three cannons, and two vehicles were damaged.

Fighting also continues in the areas of Hlyboke and Vovchansk, with no reported position losses.
Total Russian losses in this area amounted to 137 personnel, 31 of whom were irretrievable. The Russians also lost 23 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including one tank, two cannons, one MLRS, a UAV, two vehicles, and five units of special equipment, according to the General Staff. Additionally, two tanks, one armored personnel carrier, six cannons, and two vehicles were damaged.
Russian offensive in Kharkiv Oblast
On May 10, Russian forces attempted to breach Ukraine's defenses near Vovchansk in Kharkiv Oblast, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled the attacks.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russian troops had launched a new counteroffensive in the area.
Monitoring groups noted that several villages in northern Kharkiv Oblast were occupied.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, described the situation in Kharkiv Oblast as "escalating". He stated that Russian troops had extended the active combat zone by 70 km.
Khortytsia Strategic and Operational Group of Troops spokesman said that Ukrainian Armed Forces had managed to stabilize the situation in Vovchansk, on May 21.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), as of May 23, Ukraine had recaptured some territory in Vovchansk.
