Russia targets 300,000 new conscripts by June — Zelenskyy

Russia is preparing to conscript 300,000 more people by June 1, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with his Finnish colleague Alexander Stubb in Kyiv on April 3.

Zelenskyy said he is not prepared to disclose the exact number of people to be conscripted in Ukraine, but noted that "we don't need half a million."

Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk said on March 18 that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would hold a new wave of mobilization after the pseudo-elections and intensify attacks at the front. Ukrainian intelligence GUR also believes that after the presidential “elections” in Russia, mobilization may be conducted more openly.

The Southern Defense Forces are confident that Russia will intensify mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories after collecting information about people during the pseudo-elections.

Putin signed a decree on March 31 initiating a sprint draft from April 1 to July 15, aiming to mobilize 150,000 soldiers into the army.
