Due to constant attacks of Ukrainian drones on oil refineries, Russia has begun to protect them with anti-drone nets, Russian propaganda outlet RIA Novosti reported on April 18.

Bashneft protected its refineries with mechanical nets.

Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabiro, said that company equipped main facilities that could be targeted by an attack with such nets.

"But we all realize that this is a half-hearted solution, let's say they can withstand first attack, but there could be a second one," he said.

"Therefore, only part of work has been done, and it continues."

Head of Bashkiria noted that he is also engaged in a dialogue and is asking for help from Russian Defense Ministry and said that he has allegedly made "a number of decisions", which he refused to elaborate on.

Attacks on Russian refineries

Since the end of January, Ukraine regularly attacks oil refineries in Russia with long-range drones.

In total, Security Service carried out at least 13 successful attacks on Russian refineries, according to SBU head Vasyl Malyuk.

According to him, as a result, oil production and refining in Russia decreased by 12%. He said that revenues from export of oil products account a third of Russian budget and "lion's share" of military budget.

So far, following enterprises have been hit:

  • Volgograd refinery, Feb. 3

  • Afipsk refinery, Feb. 9

  • Illyinsk refinery, Feb. 9

  • Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery, March 12

  • Ryazan refinery, March 13

  • Kaluga refinery, March 15

  • Syzran refinery, March 16

  • Kuibyshev refinery, March 16

  • Slavyansk refinery, March 17

  • Novokuibyshevsk refinery, March 23

  • TANECO refinery, April 2.
