Russia To Hold Talks with Syrian Opposition

Russia says it will conduct talks with two Syrian opposition groups, in addition to president Bashar al-Assad's regime and UN envoy Kofi Annan, according to the Associated Press.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, was quoted by the RIA Novosti agency on Monday, according to AP, as saying that members of one opposition group will arrive in Moscow later this week.

Russia is a long-time ally of the Syrian government. Last month, the U.S. chastised Russia for shipping repaired attack helicopters to Syria.
