Russia deploys 400 prisoners from Tambov to fight in Ukraine General Staff report

Russia has deployed 400 inmates serving time for criminal offences in the city of Tambov (Russia) to fight in Ukraine in order to reinforce its troops there.

Details: In addition, Afghan War [1979-1989] veterans’ associations in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai have received an order to raise money in order to buy warm clothes for the region’s "volunteer battalion".

Russian forces carried out three missile strikes, 22 airstrikes and more than 90 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) on military and civilian targets across the territory of Ukraine over the course of 18 September. They conducted three additional missile strikes in the early hours of 19 September.

Russian attacks damaged infrastructure in more than 30 cities, towns and villages, including Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Soledar, Bilohiria, Novopil, Pershotravneve, Temyrivka, Sukhyi Stavok, Myroliubivka, Petrivka, Bereznehuvate, Bilohorivka, Spirne, Krasnohorivka, Stepove and Olhivske.

There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts. On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets using tank guns, mortars and various types of artillery:

  • On the Slobozhanshchyna front: areas in and around Hoptivka, Huriiv Kozachok, Kamianka and Kupiansk;

  • On the Kramatorsk front: Sviatohirsk, Raihorodok, Serebrianka and Bilohorivka;

  • On the Bakhmut front: Siversk, Rozdolivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, New-York, Yurivka, Rozivka and Zaitseve;

  • On the Avdiivka front: Avdiivka, Opytne, Karlivka, Kostiantynivka, Marinka and Pervomaiske;

  • On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts: Vuhledar, Velyka Novosilka, Mali Shcherbaky, Myrne, Vilne Pole and Vremivka;

  • On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian forces fired on Ukrainian positions along the entire line of contact; in addition, they fired on over 18 towns and villages, including Bila Krynytsia, Myroliubivka, Vysokopillia and Andriivka.

Ukrainian forces have successfully repelled Russian attacks near Mykhailivka Druha, Vesela Dolyna and Bakhmut. They struck 16 Russian strong points and areas of concentration of Russian military personnel and equipment, five Russian anti-aircraft defence systems, six command and control posts, a further three strong points and areas of concentration of Russian military personnel and equipment, electronic warfare systems, and three ammunition storage points.
