Russell Westbrook Is Reportedly “Angry And Hurt” Kevin Durant Didn’t Talk To Him About Leaving

According to ESPN's Royce Young, Durant never told Westbrook about his decision to break up the Thunder buddies, leaving him feeling "hurt and angry".

Just over three weeks ago, Kevin Durant shocked the NBA, leaving Oklahoma City to become a Golden State Warrior. Nobody was more stunned than Russell Westbrook, who reportedly thought he would be joined by Durant on the Thunder this upcoming season. Since then, he has been silent. All we know is what KD has said regarding the former Thunder buddy’s severed relationship.

KD spoke to Sina Sports while visiting China, admitting his relationship with Westbrook “Probably won’t ever be the same” and “I’m sure he wasn’t happy about the decision, but he respected it as a friend.”

There’s a new report in the fold from ESPN’s Royce Young who said:

The two have not spoken since Durant’s decision. Those close to Westbrook say he’s both angry and hurt not only by Durant’s decision to leave but also because Durant didn’t even call to tell him personally. Westbrook wasn’t prepared to be in this position — three weeks ago, like everyone else, he thought Durant was coming back. And he had to learn the hard way he wasn’t.

Now it’s time for Westbrook to think about himself, and make the best decision regarding his future in Oklahoma City, as he’s set to become a free agent next summer.

Royce Young reported that Westbrook is “taking time not just to figure out his next steps, but also to lick his own wounds.” A lot has changed since Westbrook, Durant, and former Thunder teammate, Nick Collison went out to dinner before free agency began.

The Westbrook and Durant era in Oklahoma City ends with zero championships.
