Russell Westbrook notches 100th career triple-double

ATLANTA—Russell Westbrook recorded his 100th career triple-double Tuesday night against the Hawks, and the only surprise is that it didn’t come in the first quarter.

Westbrook thoroughly dominated the game, first breaking into double-figure points shortly before halftime with a driving layup. He followed that with a slick fourth-quarter dish to Jerami Grant to get to 10 assists, and concluded the night’s statistical gem with a defensive rebound with just over two minutes left in the game. The Hawks’ Taurean Prince punched the ball out of Westbrook’s hands almost as soon as he touched it, but a generous scorer gave him the rebound anyway. Westbrook finished with a 32-12-12 line as the Thunder rolled to victory.

Westbrook ranks fourth all-time in career triple doubles, behind only Oscar Robertson (181), Magic Johnson (138) and Jason Kidd (107). Westbrook has played in 736 career games, and he’s the third-fastest to hit the 100 mark, behind only Robertson (277 games) and Magic (656 games).
