What did you miss?

Russell Crowe has surprised some viewers of The One Show when he appeared on the sofa looking very different to how they remembered him on the big screen.

The 60-year-old star of Gladiator, Les Miserables and L.A. Confidential appeared on the BBC weekday evening chat show to discuss his current live music tour of Europe, alongside the comedian Jimmy Carr. And some fans thought the Australian Hollywood actor looked just like Johnny Vegas.

Some viewers pointed out Crowe looked different because he was clean shaven while normally he has a beard. One person wrote: "He looks different without the beard." Another said: "You look great Russell."

Someone else added: "Ah Rusty!!! Just wish him a happy belated birthday for his 60th please! He’s ageing well, still sexy at 60!"

Crowe joined British comedian Carr to chat to hosts Lauren Laverne and Jermaine Jenas about fulfilling his lifelong ambition of touring as a rock musician with Russell's Indoor Garden Party. Crowe and Carr are old friends and revealed that they are in fact tennis partners.

Asked who was the better tennis player Crowe said "We're team mates," while Carr, 51, immediately said: "This guy," gesturing to himself. He went on: "I'm clearly better. I look much more like Roger Federer than you do." Crowe conceded: "You do, you win that. You do in a certain light."

But viewers were more interested in a different likeness. Many commented on social media platform X that they had mistaken Crowe for Benidorm star and comedian Johnny Vegas.

One exclaimed: "Just Put the #OneShow on and thought that was Johnny Vegas...... F**king Hell it's Russell Crowe." Another shared: "#TheOneShow Looked up at the TV and was convinced for far too long Jimmy Carr was sat next to Johnny Vegas." One posted: "Johnny Vegas has turned up instead #TheOneShow" While another asked: "#theoneshow. Russel Crowe,or Johnny Vegas?"

Other viewers thought the star of A Beautiful Mind and State Of Play looked like comedic Actor and Roseanne star John Goodman.

One tweeted: "John Goodman looks well. Hang on, it’s Russell Crowe! #theoneshow" While another asked: "#theoneshow is that John Goodman or Russell Crowe?" And another posted: "Russell Crowe looks like John Goodman from Roseanne. #TheOneShow."

What else happened on The One Show?

Crowe spoke about his love for Leeds United and revealed he is now even bought shares in the football team.

He said: "In the early 70s after I finished playing sport you'd go home and you'd be hanging out and there were three channels back in those days. In the middle of the day you'd have a gardening show, a yoga show or Match Of The Day, so we'd tune in and watch Match Of The Day and Leeds were quite a successful team in the 70s so they were on quite a lot. My brother chose Liverpool, and I chose Leeds.

"And a little while ago I've taken a little tickle on Leeds. I got contacted by a guy on behalf of the 49ers family and so we put together a little trust. It's a 'poompteenth' but I'm a part owner of Leeds now."

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm Monday to Friday.
