Rushville Middle School Power of the Pen teams compete at regionals
RUSHVILLE -- The Rushville Middle School Power of the Pen recently participated at the regional tournament at Ohio University-Lancaster with the seventh-grade team claiming first place.
Both the seventh and the eighth-grade teams completed.
Out of 13 schools that advanced to the regionals, the seventh grade earned first place. The team consisted of the following creative writers: Jordyn Hanna, Alexandria Lang, Alaina Leonard, Kate Springer, Ella Truax.
The following writers earned individual honors:
Kate Springer- 3rd Place
Alanin Leonard- 10th Place
Ella Truax- 12th Place
The eighth-grade team got second place, consisting of the following creative writers: Karah Borah, Addison Kellenbarger, Megan Maloney, Indianna Rader, Vivian Shafer, Ryanne Westenbarger
The following writer earned individual honors:
Addison Kellenbarger- 1st Place
Rushville Middle School earned the Sweepstakes Award, which is the highest honor in the Power of the Pen. This award is the combined scores of both seventh and eighth grade. They will get to house the trophy for one year at RMS.
Megan Maloney was recognized for her Best of Round award from the Licking Heights District Tournament. Round 3- Best of Round- Megan Maloney in her story “Thanks, Cheryl” (from the district tournament).
Top 12 medal winners and Best of Round automatically advance to state at Ashland University on May 16-17 with more possibly advancing who were not automatic bids.
