The Rush: LeBron James is taking Hollywood Horror to the next level

The NFL season is seven weeks old, and if you haven’t been paying close attention, you may look around at your favorite team and barely recognize the players on them. Yesterday, the Oakland Raiders continued their secret rebuild by trading wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a first round draft pick. Meanwhile in Arizona, Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson finally became fed up with his 1-5 team and formally requested a trade. But the Le’Veon Bell is stuck somewhere between Cooper and Peterson. He’s still a Steeler but he hasn’t been on the team all year. He was supposed to report to the team during Pittsburgh’s bye week but to this point he’s exactly where he’s been all year…missing in action.

Meanwhile on the silver screen, Halloween pulled in almost $80 million in its opening weekend. So Hollywood wasted no time ordering up a reboot of another horror classic. Friday the 13th is making a return to the big screen, and LeBron James is slated to produce. This appears to fly directly in the face of his preseason declaration that his show biz endeavors won’t get in the way of his quest to bring a championship to the Lakers. To be specific, when asked that very question, his response was extremely terse:

“Um, how long have you been following me? Apparently long enough. there goes your answer right there”

The proof is on LeBron’s IMDB page. How could he possibly be distracted from basketball while producing Friday the 13th and acting in Space Jam 2 and doing a voice for the movie Smallfoot while producing and starring in the show The Shop for HBO and doing cameo appearances as himself in Trainwreck, Teen Titans Go!, SpongeBob and Entourage?
