The Rush: LeBron James joins the Lakers and breaks the internet

Prayers were answered and souls were crushed on a Sunday where nobody rested, as all hell broke loose in the sports world. LeBron James announced he was taking his talents to the Los Angeles Lakers for $154 million over the next four years. After the King dropped that news on the world, the dominoes started falling across the NBA free agency spectrum. Notably, both JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson also signed with the Lakers, joining James. While LeBron fans-turned-foes took to the internet to express their displeasure with the King leaving the Cavs, Lakers fans did the opposite in exuding pure joy. Watch the video to see how it all went down.

The agony and ecstasy dichotomy was on full display at the World Cup as both of Sunday’s matches went the full 120 minutes, resulting in wins via penalty kicks. Spain and Denmark were devastated while Russia and Croatia respectively rejoiced in their hard-fought victories.

Perhaps the biggest shocker of the weekend came via tweet, care of Seahawks safety, Kam Chancellor. At 30 years old, the Super Bowl winner announced his retirement from the NFL citing risk of serious injury if he were to continue playing. The Rush wishes Kam a happy retirement and an exciting new chapter!
