Ruby Rose Says She’s Glad She Didn’t Get Gender Reassignment Surgery

Ruby Rose of Orange Is the New Black is on the cover of the latest issue of The Edit, and she opens up about being glad she didn’t go forward with gender reassignment surgery. The actress said, “All I wanted was a boy’s name growing up — Charlie, Billie, Max, Frankie. … Everyone had Barbies; I had Ninja Turtles and Superman. … I was crazy about Archie comics, and I played footie with the boys.”

Ruby is best known for playing gender-fluid roles. She went on to admit that she may have regretted getting gender reassignment surgery, saying, “I’m a woman, I want to have babies one day, so I’m glad I didn’t make changes earlier in my life.”

The 32-year-old also discussed being a role model for people struggling with their sexuality and said her goal is to be the person she wished was around when she was growing up. Ruby is currently dating Jessica Origliasso, a member of the band the Veronicas. Although they are not engaged yet, Ruby hinted that the two have been talking marriage plans, and that she would rather wear a suit instead of a dress.
