RTD holding career fair for bus operators

DENVER (KDVR) — Looking for a job that pays more than $25 an hour and offers a signing bonus? The Regional Transportation District is hiring new bus operators.

RTD will hold a career fair on Thursday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for potential employees. The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Denver Airport Convention Center at 15500 E. 40th Ave., which is easily accessible using RTD services.

Right now, RTD is looking to hire full-time and part-time bus operators.

Those who apply at the career fair could receive an offer letter that day. Training could begin as soon as April 1 or April 15.

Benefits and pay of RTD bus operator

According to RTD, those hired following the career fair will receive several benefits as they enter the position.

Candidates who are hired will receive a $4,000 signing bonus, paid training that includes CDL training and guidance through the permit process.

Pay for bus operators starts at $25.96 an hour.

Qualified candidates will need to have a domestic driver’s license that is valid for at least two years.

“The bus operator role is a career that people can retire from or start as a second career. It provides a needed service for the community and contributes to the agency’s mission of making lives better through connections. RTD invests in its employees and trains them for future leadership roles within RTD and the transit industry,” said RTD in a press release.

Candidates who attend the career fair will have the chance to learn more about the role and tour an RTD bus.
