Roy Moore Accuser Leigh Corfman Blasts Critics of Her Long Silence: ‘I Did Tell People’ (Video)

Roy Moore accuser Leigh Corfman stopped by the “Today” show Monday for her first on-camera interview since she told the Washington Post that the Alabama senate candidate engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with her when she was 14 years old.

During the appearance, Corfman bluntly addressed critics skeptical of her story who have asked why she waited so long to come forward.

“I did tell people,” Corfman told “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. “My family knew, family friends knew, my friends knew, I spent a lot of time every time he came up, railing against him and what he had done to me when I was 14 years old.”

“My children were small, I was a single parent, and when you’re in that situation, you do everything you can to protect your own,” she added.

Corfman’s accusation was the most damning of several to appear in the original Washington Post report earlier this month. Since her account was published, multiple other women have stepped forward to accuse Moore of sexual misconduct.

Locals in Gadsden, Alabama, where Moore is from, have said his behavior was so well known that he was even banned from the local mall to prevent contact with high school students who hung out there, the New Yorker reported.

“I wouldn’t exactly call it a date. I would say it was a meet. At 14 I was not dating. At 14, I was not able to make those kind of choices,” Corfman told Guthrie. “I was a 14-year-old child trying to play in an adult’s world, and he was 32 years old,”
