Roy Keane believes Manchester City’s strong start to the season will actually help Manchester United.

City have been in blistering form, winning 11 of their 12 games so far and now sit top of the Premier League and in Champions League Group F.

United have a similar record, winning 10 from 12 with nine clean sheets, but have come in for criticism for a slightly less inspiring brand of football than their cross-town rivals.

The 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday saw Jose Mourinho accused of being an “enemy of football” and was followed up by an equally dire 1-0 victory over Benfica on Wednesday night.

Speaking after that second game, former United captain Keane explained that all the praise being heaped on City will help his old side.

"It will suit United," Keane said on ITV's Champions League highlights show.

"Let City get all the credit at the moment and United can go under the radar.

"They are getting results, clean sheets and that gives you the foundations to go on and win trophies."
