Round Rock doctor’s medical license suspended after ‘inappropriate behavior’

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The medical license of a Round Rock doctor was temporarily suspended after a Texas Medical Board panel found evidence that “his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare,” the board said Monday.

The board suspended the medical license for Dr. Willard James Davis, II following a Thursday disciplinary panel. The temporary suspension was effective immediately, the board said.

The board said a panel found evidence that Davis was impaired while working at the St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.

St. David’s HealthCare provided a statement to KXAN, writing that Davis is no longer working at their facilities.

The last time Dr. Will Davis worked at any St. David’s HealthCare facility was on January 24, 2024 at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital. He is no longer providing medical services at any of our facilities.

KXAN contacted an attorney representing Davis in an unrelated Williamson County case for comment. This article will be updated if a statement is received.

The panel also found Davis engaged in “inappropriate behavior” with a patient when he worked in the emergency department at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. The board said Davis also left the emergency department unattended for long periods of time.

A temporary suspension hearing will be held within 10 business days’ notice to Davis, the board said.

According to his medical license information, Davis has 22 years of active practice including 18 years of practice in Texas.
