Rotary Club donates books to District 51

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Rotary Club of Grand Junction, along with other clubs in the Grand Valley, pooled their money to donate books to District 51.

WesternSlopeNow caught up with members of the Grand Junction Rotary at Grand River Academy to learn about the communication between the club and D51.

“We allow the district to pick them for us because none of us are qualified to know what first graders are reading these days,” said Sheree Fukai with the Grand Junction Rotary Club. “They pick them and graciously order them. We go and put our rotary stamp in them, and then we divide up into teams amongst the clubs, and we all take different schools and we distribute them.”

Each student got to pick three books to take home and keep.
