Ronaldo called 'self-centered egotistical wanker' by Iceland's Strongest Man

Iceland has been the fairytale story of Euro 2016 – not just the team, but the entire nation of around 330,000 people.

One of those 330,000 people, former World's Strongest Man Magnus Ver Magnusson, just made the story even more remarkable. He took to Facebook to rip Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Dear Cristiano Ronaldo," he wrote. "When you said Iceland will never win anything I bet you weren't expecting this as the final results of the qualifying group. Have a good look you self-centered, egotistical wanker."

Magnusson then attached a picture of the group standings, which show Iceland ahead of Portugal.

In his Facebook post, Magnusson is referencing Ronaldo's comments after Portugal was stunningly stifled by Iceland in a 1-1 draw to open the group. Following the match, Ronaldo complained about Iceland's jubilation.

"I thought they'd won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end," he said. "It was unbelievable. When they don't try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition."

A week later, as Portugal struggled to a third straight draw, Iceland scored a last-minute winner against Austria to finish with five points, ahead of Portugal.

Iceland, who has never qualified for a World Cup and had never qualified for a European Championship prior to 2016, will play England in the Round of 16. Portugal, who qualified for the knockout stage as a third-place team, plays Croatia.
