Romney Campaign Gives Out $200K in Bonuses

The Romney campaign gave out $200,000 in bonuses to senior staffers after the Republican National Convention last month, The Washington Post reports.

A campaign official told Politico that these payments were “primary-win bonuses pursuant to employment agreements.”

One staffer, National Political Director Richard Beeson, received a $37,500 payment on Aug. 31. Six top staffers, including campaign manager Matt Rhoades, got $25,000 apiece, while two other staffers each received $10,000 bonuses. Beeson makes $165,000 a year, The Post reports.

The Romney campaign is currently trailing the Obama campaign in cash-on-hand, as financial records show that President Obama has $88.8 million to spend in the final months of his campaign. This is nearly twice as much as Romney, who has $50.4 million in the bank and $15 million left to pay on a loan.
