Romney Ad Puts Obama Campaign Tactics on Trial

For the second day in a row, the Romney campaign released a stinging attack ad that hits President Obama over the manner in which he runs his campaign, saying, “we expect more from a president.”

“What Happened?” uses Obama’s 2008 speech to the Democratic National Convention, where the then-senator from Illinois outlined how not to run a campaign: “Because if you don’t have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters,” he is shown saying.

The 30-second spot overlaps quotes from that speech with reports of the Obama campaign attacking Romney relentlessly and not focusing on his own record.

“If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from,” Obama says. “You make a big election about small things.”

On Thursday, the Romney campaign released another television ad, effectively calling the president a liar for being dishonest in his attacks against Romney. The Obama campaign shot back, also accusing Romney of falsehoods surrounding his time at Bain Capital.
