Details: During the conversation, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Romania for its support, particularly the new package of military assistance that is being prepared.

He informed President Iohannis about the current situation on the battlefield and Ukraine's critical defence needs, particularly in air defence of various forms.

According to Zelenskyy, both presidents decided to move forward with cooperative work on a bilateral security agreement.

Zelenskyy commended Iohannis for confirming his participation at the Peace Summit in Switzerland, as well as for his desire to work with other countries to encourage their participation.

On 8 May, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, after meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington, said that he is open to discussing sending a Patriot air defence system to Ukraine.

However, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said that Romanian Defence Minister Angel Tîlvăr has serious reservations about the possibility of providing Ukraine with a Patriot air defence system.

Subsequently, Ciolacu said that discussions about his country's provision of a Patriot system for Ukraine do not mean it is impossible, and he noted that he was satisfied with the Kremlin's reaction to such plans.
