Rollover crash on SR 85 near Buckeye leaves 2 dead, 3 injured

Two people died and three were injured on Saturday after a rollover crash on State Route 85 at Hazen Road near Buckeye.

Around 6 p.m. a driver tried to cross SR 85 at Hazen Road when a vehicle traveling southbound struck the side of their vehicle. The vehicle that was crossing, which had five occupants, rolled over into the median, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and another one died at the hospital, according to DPS. The driver and the two remaining passengers were taken to a hospital with no life-threatening injuries.

Authorities hadn't released the identities of the passengers as of Sunday morning.

It is unclear if the occupants of the vehicle traveling southbound on SR 85 were injured.
