Roland man sentenced for attacking man with electric saw

ROLAND, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Roland man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for attacking a man with an electric saw, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Morgan Cameron Blanton-Barnes, 24, was sentenced to 235 months for one count of maiming in Indian Country and 188 months for first-degree burglary. The release said the sentences will be served concurrently.

Blanton-Barnes pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 14, 2022. Investigators said on April 23, 2022, Blanton-Barnes broke into the victim’s home while he was asleep and attacked him with an electric saw.

The victim suffered lacerations to the back of their skull and both hands.

“The facts of this case are shocking, and the sentence imposed is a clear message that the justice system will hold violent offenders accountable for their heinous crimes,” U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Wilson said in the release.

The release says that Stevenson will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals pending transportation to a United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence.
