‘Rogue One’ Actor Diego Luna Talks Starring in Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’ Music Video

Diego Luna is the one that got away.

Before he made plans to steal the Death Star as Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Luna, 36, played Katy Perry’s love interest in her 2010 music video for “The One That Got Away.”

“This is before Star Wars, but more people have seen that video than the people that have seen all my other films together,” Luna tells PEOPLE Now. “It’s just insane.”

In the video, the Mexican actor plays Perry’s tragic lost love. The Teenage Dream diva has flashbacks to their carefree times, filled with dancing at parties and leisurely afternoons painting.

As someone who “really admires” Perry, Luna recounts how excited he was when the director called him to be in the video—but nothing could have prepared him for it’s response.

“I didn’t know what I was stepping into. This whole world of pop—it’s so intense and it got everywhere. I became ‘The Guy from the Video.’ In places where I used to just walk around without getting any attention, suddenly people were like, ‘Oh my God, the guy from the video!'”

But to Luna, “it was just a video” and “something very different” than the phenomenon it became.

“Again, it’s a two day thing so it’s nothing,” he explains. “There was a lot of partying going on so it was a little like a 20-hour party.”
