Rogers High School DECA Club, Make-A-Wish Foundation partner to give 9-year-old Hawaii trip

ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The DECA Club at Rogers High School teams up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation on April 3 to make a girl’s dream come true.

Joplin, a 9-year-old who goes to school in Bentonville, is going on a trip to Hawaii with her family.

The whole student body came out to celebrate Joplin including the school choir and band and showered her with some of her favorite gifts ahead of her island trip.

Tom Woodruff is the school’s DECA advisor. He says it’s not what you gather in life that determines who you become, It’s what you scatter.

“This is a good example of students scattering love, and understanding, and thoughtfulness and kindness, and that’s what this is all about,” Woodruff said.

The students got Joplin a surfboard, and everybody signed it.

Joplin’s latest scans came back cancer-free.
