Mark Mercurio, financial secretary for the past eight years, announced he would not seek re-election to his office because he has applied to the Archdiocese of Detroit to enroll in the deaconate studies. He is awaiting a response on his acceptance in the five-year, permanent deaconate program. He was appointed as secretary in July 2016, when he succeeded Danny Taylor and served three three-year terms. No one has been nominated for the post.

In other business, the council approved a new raffle fundraising effort that would be undertaken with other Knights of Columbus councils in Temperance and St. Anthony. The three councils in the Lumen Christi Family of Parishes would jointly sell tickets and divide up the proceeds. If approved by the other councils, the fundraiser would begin later this year.
