Highlighted programs

“Fashion of History” exhibit – March 7-April 30. Sponsored by the Alliance Area Preservation Society, the exhibit contains educational posters, photographs and articles of clothing and accessories from the 1800s through the 1970s, and matches them with sites from around Alliance where they would have been worn. A special presentation by Sara Hume, a Kent State professor and museum curator, will open the exhibit at 6:30 p.m. March 7.

Seed Library – Through May 31, while supplies last. Rodman Library has partnered with StarkFresh to bring a Seed Library to Alliance. Vegetable, fruit, herb and flower seeds are displayed in the Library’s wooden card catalog located in the Library’s front lobby. Patrons may browse through the catalog and take the free seed packets of items they are interested in growing.

Kids Crafting – 4 p.m. Thursday. Those ages 7 to 12 are invited to Rodman Public Library to make a paper shamrock wreath. Kids Crafting programs are held monthly, and all materials are provided by the Friends of Rodman Library. Ongoing programs

Wee Read – 6:30 p.m. Mondays; and 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays. Children ages birth through 2 years and their parents or caregivers are invited. Wee Read includes stories, fingerplays, music and movement. Family Fun Night – 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Parents or caregivers and children ages 3 to 12 are invited to Rodman Main Children’s Department. In addition to stories, participants break into small groups and visit various stations where they will play games, complete challenges and create crafts that provide fun for all ages. Teen Writing Club – 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Teens who have an interest in writing are encouraged to join the writing club that meets the second and fourth Wednesdays each month. Meet your fellow teen writers to exchange ideas, hone your skills and share your work, if desired. No registration is required. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.

Storytime – 10:30 a.m. Thursdays. Children ages 3 to 5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend Storytime each week. Storytime sessions are intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement and activities. For more information, contact the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Tech Time Thursday – 11 a.m. Thursdays. For an hour, a librarian is on hand to answer basic questions about your computer or electronic devices, such as cellphones, laptops and tablets. No registration is needed. For more information, call the Main Library at 330-821-2665, ext. 216.

Teen Gaming – 3 p.m. Thursday. Those ages 12-18 are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii & WiiU. Books and Coffee – 6:30 p.m. March 14 at Rodman Branch Library. Club meets every second Monday of the month. Selected title for the next meeting will be “A Man Called Ove,” by Fredrik Backman. For more information, call 330-821-1313.
