Rock’n Paws brings puppy parade to Barefoot Landing in second year of event

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)– Here’s something that will surely make you smile this evening: Dogs as rock stars.

People dressed up their pets for the “My Pet is a Rock Star” contest at the second annual Rock’n Paws event at Barefoot Landing in North Myrle Beach.

The pup stars paraded around showing off their looks. I was there, and it was just too cute.

This was part of the weekend long event. that includes live music, food and beverage vendors.

And a handful of Grand Strand animal shelters and rescues.

“We believe that our community is important, not just North Myrtle Beach which is what we call home, but the whole area of Horry County,” said Kim Kelley, Barefoot Landing’s marketing manager. “And because we are pet friendly and animal lovers, we are always trying to find a way to help the local shelters. We just like to bring awareness to the fact that the shelters are full and they need help.”

There were several adoptions, making this a successful event today as the goals is for all the pets to find a fur-ever home.

“We started off with six dogs including four puppies and I believe that three of those puppies have been adopted,” said Horry County spokeswoman Adrianna Nixon. “We have a couple other dogs that are still looking for their forever right now but that’s OK. We know that forever is out there.”

If you didn’t make it out today, the event continues through tomorrow from 1p.m. through 6 p.m.
