First off, in case you weren’t aware, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has a teenage daughter. That daughter, 16-year-old Simone Garcia Johnson, has been tapped to serve as the 75th annual Golden Globe Ambassador (a title formerly known as Mr. or Miss Golden Globe) in January 2018.

“I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in a household with strong role models and feel so honored to represent the H.F.P.A. for its 75th Anniversary,” Johnson said in a statement Wednesday, per Variety. Johnson, who is the Rock’s daughter with ex-wife and manager, Dany Garcia, follows in the Golden Globes footsteps of Sylvester Stallone’s three daughters, Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet, who collectively served as “Miss Golden Globe” in 2017.

For viewers of the show, Miss Golden Globe—excuse us, the Golden Globe Ambassador—is usually the child or children of a famous person who is introduced near the beginning of the show, and then lingers silently on the side of the stage to hand over statues to the presenters, who then give them to the lucky winners. Like many things involving the Golden Globes, it's a silly but entertaining tradition we can’t get enough of.

The H.F.P.A. has officially changed the term “Miss or Mr. Golden Globe” to “Golden Globe Ambassador,” and it’s an intentional decision, H.F.P.A. president Meher Tatna said Wednesday.

“As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA’s philanthropic efforts year round. The honoree will now be referred to as the Golden Globe Ambassador and we could not think of a better representative than Simone to carry on this tradition, as her values closely reflect everything the H.F.P.A. stands for.”

Johnson continued in her comments: “As the newly minted Golden Globe Ambassador, I hope to serve as a role model to young people everywhere and empower them to speak out on issues they are passionate about.”
