Rochester police officer injured in collision, driver arrested for DWI

A Rochester police officer sustained injuries following a crash involving an alleged drunk driver.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., the officer was driving a marked patrol vehicle eastbound on Lyell Avenue. The officer proceeded through the intersection of Lyell Avenue and Dewey Avenue with a green light when a 2018 Jeep traveling southbound on Dewey Ave collided with the patrol car, police said.

The officer sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, police said. The female driver of the Jeep, aged in her 30s, was not injured in the incident. However, she has been charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
