Rochester forum set to address mental health and homelessness

May 8—ROCHESTER — A conversation about links between mental illness and homelessness is planned for May 23.

Sarah Knispel, NAMI Minnesota's public policy coordinator, and Lee Fomella, NAMI Southeast Minnesota's director of education programs, will present information on the topic during a two-hour forum planned for 6:30 p.m. May 23, 2024, at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Ave. SW.

Knispel, who worked as a mental health specialist in the streets of Brooklyn, New York, is expected to share insights on approaching, respecting and treating people with mental illness.

The event is being sponsored by In the City for Good, along with the state and local National Alliance of Mental Illness organizations.
