Robot dog inside Fashion Fair mall is not with Fresno Police

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A robotic dog seen operating inside Fresno’s Fashion Fair over the weekend was seen greeting customers and walking around the mall – but whoever was operating it remains a mystery.

A video sent to YourCentralValley.com (which can be viewed above) shows the robotic dog walking up and down the tiled floor of Fashion Fair mall on Saturday. The footage was captured by Mishelle Walters and posted to social media. The video shows the robotic dog walking away from the camera at first and avoiding other shoppers – but suddenly turning around and stomping its robot feet before seemingly waving at the camera.

The robot dog is seen wearing a tactical dog harness-style vest, with a label that reads “IN TRAINING” on one side and “DO NOT PET” on the other side.

When YourCentralValley.com was first sent the video, both the Fresno Police Department and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office were contacted to figure out whether the robot dog belonged to them: both responded that the robot dog was not one of theirs.

However, a search online shows that the robot dog appears to be a “Unitree Go2” which starts at $1,600 and can be as expensive as $3,050.

YourCentralValley.com did reach out to Fashion Fair to ask if it belonged to the mall’s operators. A response to that question has not yet been received.
