Robin Lopez gets ejected, tosses a chair into oblivion

When NBA players get ejected, they often look for an outlet for their anger. After getting ejected during the first half of the Chicago Bulls’ demolition of the Sacramento Kings, Robin Lopez had to be restrained from confronting an official.

The Bulls held the Sacramento Kings to nine points in the first quarter, but Lopez was having a tough night personally, scoring two points on 1-of-5 shooting. Unable to calm his temper, Lopez saw a chair looking at him funny and did what NBA players have wanted to do to referees all season long by heaving it down the the tunnel. It wasn’t quite Bobby Knight skipping a chair across the floor like a stone across a lake in ’85, but he put some impressive zip on that throw.

The NBA doesn’t look to kindly upon inanimate objects being thrown at high velocities in arenas. After all, what goes up, must come down and in a densely populated area, there’s always a higher chance than usual that a freak accident occurs. Fortunately, it appears Lopez avoided a repeat of MLB’s Fran Francisco debacle.
