Robeson Community College grant to help adults receive higher education

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — Robeson Community College held a launch party Thursday after it was awarded a grant that will help adults receive higher education.

Those who make less than $80,000 per year can apply for the $3,000 scholarships to go toward tuition and expenses. The school said it identified more than 700 people currently eligible for the money.

“It is our goal to reach back out to these students and ask them the question of come back home, want them to come back home to Robeson Community College and to finish what they started,” Dr. Johnny Smith said. “In other words, we want to meet them where they are and take them as far as they can go.”

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be a North Carolina resident, have graduated high school, take at least six credit hours and maintain grades.
