Robert Downey Jr. has accomplished many things during his acting career, and now he can add Oscar winner to his list.
The 58-year-old won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster, Oppenheimer.
When Downey hit the stage to accept his award, he gave the audience plenty of laughs.
“I’d like to thank my terrible childhood, and The Academy,” Downey said, drawing laughter from the audience. “In that order.”
The Hollywood icon then went on to praise his wife for everything she has done for him.
“I’d like to thank my veterinarian, I meant wife,” Downey joked. “Susan Downey over there, she found me a snarling rescue pet, and you loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here.”
Downey said the work actors do is important and he also thanked many of the cast and crew from Oppenheimer.
