Roads close due to blaze in downtown Concord

(BCN) — Roads have been closed in downtown Concord due to a fire early Tuesday morning, according to police.

A fire struck a commercial structure in the area of Sunset Avenue and East Street in Concord, the Contra Costa County Fire Department said on social media just before 1 a.m. Around 30 minutes later, the fire department announced the blaze had been knocked down.

Motorists are still advised to avoid the area.

The following roads are closed, according to the Concord Police Department as of 9:18 a.m.:

  • East Street between Concord Blvd. / Park St.

  • Colfax Street between Concord Blvd. / Sunset Ave.

  • Clayton Road between Sunset Ave. / Park St.

  • Sunset Avenue between Colfax St. / Port Chicago Hwy.
