Roadrunner shares fall after downgrade

Shares of Roadrunner Transportation fall after Stifel Nicolaus analyst downgrades to 'Hold'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. fell Tuesday after a Stifel Nicolaus analyst downgraded the transportation and logistics services provider, saying that its shares reflect the company's prospects after a recent rally.

THE SPARK: David Ross cut his rating for Roadrunner to "Hold" from "Buy," recommending that investors wait for the stock to drop or for signs of faster growth before buying more shares.

THE BIG PICTURE: Cudahy, Wis.-based Roadrunner's shares have risen about 70 percent over the past year. In 2013, the shares are up 58 percent. Analysts expect growth in the company's profit and revenue to slow over the next few years, according to FactSet. Results have rebounded sharply since the recession ended in 2009.

THE SHARES: Down $1.12, or 3.9 percent, to $27.46 in afternoon trading.
