Road rage leads to shots fired in St. Peters, suspect arrested

ST. PETERS, Mo. – An apparent road rage case led to shots fired Thursday morning in St. Peters.

Authorities arrested one suspect in the investigation after a short pursuit. No injuries were reported from the shots fired.

The St. Peters Police Department tells FOX 2 that one person fired shots at a vehicle in the area of North St. Peters Parkway and Harvester Avenue.

Police tracked down the suspect’s vehicle quickly and stopped him near the 100 block of Willow Grove Court.

The suspect is now in custody at the St. Peters Police Department on pending charges of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and possibly others. Police have not yet disclosed the suspect’s name or age.

On Thursday, surveillance video caught multiple police cars zooming in and out of frame around the Hickory Ridge subdivision.

“Oh my gosh I was very scared because you look outside and see like 15 cop cars all around your house,” said Erin Ballmann. She spoke with FOX 2 on the phone and said while she was at work, Ballmann’s mother-in-law sent her video from outside her home.

“You’ve got your kids at home and my mother-in-law was there with my babies and my dogs,” said Ballmann. “We just saw cars like flying down the streets and the suspect had gone toward the clubhouse of our neighborhood and went down the street and both ends of the street is a cul-de-sac that he could not get out of. So when he came out everybody surrounded his car.”

This is a developing story. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
