Road projects updated for the week of May 20

May 18—The Texas Department of Transportation plans to conduct the following construction and maintenance work in the district during the week of May 20, 2024. Work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure, or other unforeseen issues. Slow down and pay attention in work zones.

On Monday, Jacksonville crews will be finishing the right-turn lane on U.S. 79, just east of Jacksonville. Crews will then work on picking up debris throughout the county. Rusk crews will be blade overlaying on FM 752 as well as repairing washout on SH 110 north of Rusk.

The contractor on the SH 204 project to add a super-two highway section is scheduled to begin the hot mix asphalt concrete level-up. They will also continue right-of-way clearing, cross culvert extensions, and underground utility relocation. The extent of this project runs from SH 110 to the Rusk County line. Traffic delays are expected due to lane closures. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

The contractor on the U.S. 175 widening project is scheduled to continue clearing and preparing the right-of-way, utility relocations, and drainage structure work. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the project, which extends from 0.5 miles east of the Anderson County line (CR 3509) to FM 347 in Jacksonville. The project consists of expansion of US 175 to a four-lane roadway with new bridges, grading, hot mix application, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage. This project is anticipated to be complete in Fall 2028.
