Road closures, detours anticipated for Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon weekend

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — With multiple races happening the first weekend of June, drivers are expected to be prepared for some planned road closures in San Diego.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series kicks off Saturday, June 1 with a 5K in Balboa Park at 7 a.m. The course begins on Presidents Way near Park Boulevard and ends on Balboa Drive near Olive Street.

The half-marathon and full marathon will take place on Sunday, June 2 starting at 6:15 a.m. Runners will begin at Sixth Avenue and Quince Street near Balboa Park, traverse through different neighborhoods through San Diego and finish at Ash Street and Union Street.

According to the running series’ website, most road closures and detours on Sunday will be in effect from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Streets will reopen on a rolling basis after the last participant has passed.
