Road closures caused by severe weather damage in, near Baton Rouge on Wednesday, April 10
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Road closures were announced as severe weather moved through the Baton Rouge area on Wednesday, April 10.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development urged drivers to travel with caution if they have to drive during severe weather conditions. Officials said some areas could experience flash flooding and heavy rainfall.
The Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office asked people to stay off roadways even after storms pass for crews to clear roads and answer emergency calls.
The City of New Roads said there are fallen trees on roadways and broken powerlines and poles. Crews are working to clear roadways and restore power. City and parish officials ask people to stay off the roads.
