Road closures, bus detours announced for Pittsburgh Marathon weekend

Street closures related to this weekend's 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon have been announced.

Initial downtown road closures will begin Friday starting at 12 p.m. on the Boulevard of the Allies between Wood Street and Stanwix Street. This section of the Boulevard of the Allies will remain closed through Sunday.

For Saturday events (Pittsburgh 5K and Kids Marathon), there will be North Shore and Downtown road closures in effect from 7:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.

For Sunday's marathon, half marathon and relay, Downtown closures will start at 1:30 a.m. Street closures around the city will continue through 2:30 p.m.

All Port Authority bus service will be detoured beginning Sunday morning. Extra service will be running on the busways and the T. Some routes will also be detoured on

Saturday.

The race is expected to feature more than 40,000 runners from 49 states and over 20 countries.

Certain sections of the city will be completely closed to traffic on race day. Anyone in those areas who will need to leave during the race should consider parking their cars outside the area.
