Riverfest announces button price increase, country act Hunter Hayes added

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Five-time Grammy Award nominee Hunter Hayes was announced to be playing at Riverfest in June.

A news release from Wichita Festivals, Inc. — the company that handles Riverfest — said Hayes will be performing on Saturday, June 1.

The multi-instrumentalist and platinum-selling artist has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.

“We’re excited to welcome Hunter Hayes to Wichita; he’s not only a songwriter, he’s also a multi-instrumentalist artist,” said Troy Palmer, 2024 Riverfest General Chair. “With the Riverfest just a few months away, we’ll have more concerts and activities to announce in the coming weeks, stay tuned!”

Hayes has been in the country music industry since releasing his debut album in 2011. Since then, he has released nine more album, with his latest album — Red Sky Continued — being released in 2023.

Button sales were also announced to start on April 16. Adults can purchase buttons for $20, $10 for children ages 6-11, and children 5 and under are free.

Buttons can be purchased at the Wichita Festivals office at 444 E. William during business hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be no early bird pricing. Beginning May 3, QuikTrip will sell buttons at all locations in Wichita, Derby, and El Dorado. Wichita Festivals CEO Nancy Duling cited “rising prices everywhere” as the reason for the price increase

“We considered all the options, and unfortunately, with rising prices everywhere, it was a tough
decision, but we knew to continue the legacy of what Riverfest means for our community, we needed to raise the button price,” Duling said. “The cost of doing business has increased, and we want to do everything we can to keep the festival unique and a time-honored tradition in Wichita.”

Wichita Festivals says more concert announcements will be made in “a couple of weeks,” along with new events the festival is incorporating in 2024.

This year’s Riverfest will be the 52nd year of the festival.
