River Cats hold Media Day, show off new clubhouse

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – Wednesday was Media Day for the Sacramento River Cats, and it began with a ribbon cutting to show off new renovations to the clubhouse.

It was a project that began approximately two years ago, and some of changes involve a greater focus on mental health, as well as facilities that are designed for women.

On Friday, the 25th season of baseball begins at Sutter Health Park.

“I think it will be really good,” said infielder Casey Schmitt. “We got a close group of guys, so I think it’s gonna be a really fun year.”

Added pitcher Mason Black, “Everything is developing. Spring Training is a time to kind of get everything cued in, so. Really enjoy just testing the waters and seeing where everything is at the time, and making those little adjustments.”

Sacramento hosts Salt Lake on Friday at 6:45pm.
