🌱 RIP Don Webster Robinson + PD Activity At Rockland & Roberta?

Hey, Woonsocket & Happy National Fruitcake Toss Day! Here's Sylvia with everything you need to know to get this Monday started off right.

Woonsocket lost a musical icon. Also, there was scuttlebutt about police activity at Rockland Street and Roberta Street. Finally, there was a car accident involving a teen.

First, today's weather:

Clouds and sun; much colder. High: 26 Low: 17.

Here are the top four stories today in Woonsocket:

  1. We learned Friday that Don Webster Robinson has died at the age of 85. Locals knew him as an active Jehovah's Witness. However, few may have been aware that he was a “Grammy-nominated ("What Do You See In My Face" - The Inspirations Then and Now, Vaughn Daniel) songwriter and composer of published Doo Wop and country music tracks.” (The Valley Breeze)

  2. Twitter users with scanner access were reporting Sunday that Woonsocket PD was dealing with a “shots fired” incident. A pedestrian may have been struck. Another Twitter user narrowed the scene down to being at Rockland Street and Roberta Street. There has been no official confirmation of these reports. (@DannySousa401, @RayTheDroneGuy)

  3. A 15-year-old boy was hit by a car on Sunday. It happened on Rockland Street. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The child was sent to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with minor injuries. (ABC)

  4. A Warwick man was refused a COVID-19 test at the Smithfield VFW site Friday. The man and his girlfriend had been waiting in line for more than an hour. Both had “scheduled their tests earlier in the week” but were greeted with a door being closed in their faces. The reason for the denial of service was, “tests for the day were done.” When the man returned, as he had been instructed, on Saturday, nobody was there. (WJAR)
