Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was sworn in as a congresswoman less than a week ago, but she’s already got her political opponents fired up. Late last week a video of her dancing as a college student was leaked in an attempt to portray her as a, in the words of the anonymous poster, “clueless nitwit.” The New York lawmaker responded by dancing outside of her new D.C. office, and she capped the week by calling President Trump a racist on 60 Minutes.

It was her appearance on 60 Minutes on Sunday that may have riled up conservative radio host and ardent Trump supporter Bill Mitchell. The following day the YourVoice America personality — whose Twitter feed includes attacks on “fake news” and liberals — tweeted about Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance. According to Mitchell, she was “cute” in high school but now has “crazy eyes.”

While many called out the tweet for its focus on Ocasio-Cortez’s looks — “Probably started when old dudes started judging her based solely on her looks and demeanor, if I had to guess.” was one reaction — most of the criticism stems from Mitchell’s reference to the 29-year-old politician’s teenage years. Some commenters accused him of being “creepy.”

Mitchell hasn’t deleted the tweet and hasn’t backed down from insulting Ocasio-Cortez. Hours later, he tweeted that she and fellow freshman congresswoman Rashida Tlaib had “hard-to-remember names,” a remark that commenters denounced as “racist.”
