Rielle Hunter, John Edwards' Ex, Writes Children's Book with Their 8-Year-Old Daughter

Rielle Hunter and daughter Frances Quinn are stepping back into the spotlight – this time, as published authors.

Hunter and Quinn, 8 – whose father is former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards – revealed their upcoming, joint children's book to ABC News in an interview that airs Friday.

The book, called Howie Do It, was written by Hunter, 52, and illustrated by Quinn.

Also during the interview, Hunter discussed her relationship with Edwards – which began as an extramarital affair and only ended last year.

"We're very, very good friends," Hunter explained, adding that she and Edwards were also "great co-parents."

She noted, "We have the same goals. We want the best for Quinn."

Edwards fathered Quinn during his failed presidential run in 2007 when he was still wed to the late Elizabeth Edwards. Although Hunter gave birth to Quinn in February 2008, Edwards did not admit paternity until almost two years later.

Earlier this year, Hunter told Steve Harvey that Quinn understood why her parents were the subject of media attention, contending, "That's her reality."

She said that the father and daughter see each other "as often as they can," and called ex Edwards "a great dad."

Quinn and Hunter's full interview will air on Good Morning America Friday, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. EST.
