Richmond Co. parents attend second out of six information sessions about district’s 5 year plan

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Richmond County parents had the opportunity to let their voices be heard on the district’s 5 year plan on Tuesday evening.

Tuesday’s session took place at Spirit Creek Elementary School, and it was the second of six information sessions on the plan.

The parents who did attend say they had plenty of thoughts on the future of the schools in Richmond County.

“I understand the cost piece of it, and I guess I understand the math behind what they’re trying to drive to. My concern is right now, there’s a clear plan to the re-work, but there’s not a clear plan about the specific benefits for this re-work,” says Mackie Sinklen, a Richmond County parent.

“Last night’s meeting was not very clear, and the verbiage that got put out was as if the schools were going to be closing. So, tonight’s meeting clarified a lot of that information. Knowing that A.R. Johnson will not be closing is just a little bit of comfort,” says Stacey Friar, another Richmond County parent.

If you could not attend Tuesday’s meeting, the future sessions are as follows:
