RI Gov. Chafee picks PR, design exec for EDC

Rhode Island governor picks PR and design exec as final EDC nominee

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Gov. Lincoln Chafee has tapped a communications executive to serve on Rhode Island's Economic Development Corp.

Chafee announced the nomination of Maeve Donahue on Thursday. If approved by the state Senate, she will take the final open seat on the board, which has struggled with vacancies following its failed investment in former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's bankrupt video game company, 38 Studios.

Donahue is president of Nami Studios, a Barrington-based web design, marketing and communications firm. She is also creative director for Brand Visionaries, a business marketing firm. Previously, she co-owned a fashion boutique in Spain and helped coordinate the first two X-Games competitions, held in Rhode Island.

Chafee, an independent, says Donahue's experience in business, marketing and technology make her a great pick for the agency.
