Rhode Island gas prices rise by 2 cents in first increase since October

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Gas prices in Rhode Island have gone up by two cents, marking the first weekly increase in the state since Oct. 1.

AAA Southern New England says Monday that its weekly survey found the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline to be $3.53.

That's two cents over last week's average and 24 cents higher than the national average, which is $3.29.

Prices in the Ocean State are down by five cents compared to last month.

Last year at this time, a gallon of regular gasoline averaged $3.44 in Rhode Island.
